Business name? Fisher Fencing.

Based in? Matawai, East Cost.

In the fencing industry since: Full-time contracting since 2008.

How did the business come about? Went to take 18 months off shearing for a break and spend it on the fence line, and spend a bit of time at home. 17 years later, and still haven't got back to the handpiece like planned!

Who is in the team? Allan Spice, Billy Fleming, Kamaia Te Kuni - Ruha, Manaia Reeves.

What style of fence is your favourite to build or what do you specialise in? IRural fencing mainly. Love doing post and rails, yards are a bit of a fetish.

What's the best thing about being a fencer? The sights you see, and the places you end up.

What project are you most proud of or have most enjoyed? Yards – any yards – bit of my jam.

What project has been the most challenging? Not naming names, but a couple of clients in the past.

What has been the hardest part of running a business? Bloody book work.

What keeps you sane as a business owner? (Apps, tools, tricks, people) Beer, family, and just getting right away from it from time to time.

If you could use one wish to make any part of your business better, what would you wish for? No bloody taxes!

What's one thing you would tell someone new to running a fencing business? Don’t be precious, just do what needs to be done.

Why do you belong to FCANZ? To support the industry, help it grow, for the contacts and networking, and sharing of knowledge.

What's for lunch? Sandwishes - Again.

Marmite or Vegemite? Avocado.

Ranger or Hilux? If you’ve got to ask, we can’t be friends.

Favourite tool? Bottle opener.

What do you listen to at work? (Podcast or music) Usually the boy’s violins.

Favourite song or podcast? Dilemma – Nelly and Kelly – anything really, Eminem to Engelbert.
